How to get my local bookstore to stock it?
You can just ask them! (if they ask about distribution, it's available on Ingram on a returnable basis, ISBN 979-8891327931)
You can also mention that it's been reviewed by Kirkus and Midwest, two industry-respected review sources:
"Libraries will want to recommend How to Surf a Hurricane to suspense readers for its intrigue and struggles, business readers for its messages about family interactions and financial realities, sci-fi readers of dystopian fiction who will appreciate its more uplifting approach than most genre reads, and general-interest readers seeking thought-provoking stories about futuristic ideals and realities." - Midwest
If they want more info, you can give them the one-page sell sheet

- IMPORTANT: Libby’s “notify me” tag is not the same as making a request — that notification tag used to notify libraries on the back end about what books patrons wanted added to the collection. Unfortunately, Libby disabled that function so libraries do not get the request.
- MAKE A REQUEST ON YOUR LIBRARY WEBSITE: Most libraries have websites where you can make direct requests for books for them to carry (ebooks, audiobooks, and print). Some have rules about only being able to make three requests or a certain number in a certain timeframe, but public libraries exist to serve the public and generally, they want to hear your requests! It’s not guaranteed the library will acquire your request, but I keep my books inexpensive for libraries, and if you let them know you’re interested, they may very well add it! This is a great no-cost way to support your favorite authors. NOTE: You may have to log into your library website with your library card to be able to find their book request option—if you can’t find it, ask your librarian!
